MCU CAN FD Bit-Rate Code Generator

This tool generates CAN FD bit-timing register values and initialization code for common MCU CAN controllers. It is intended for robot joints, motor drives and embedded nodes that must match an existing CAN FD network.

What the Tool Generates

  • Arbitration-phase bit timing
  • Data-phase bit timing
  • Prescaler, time-segment and synchronization-jump-width values
  • Sample-point calculation
  • MCU initialization-code templates
  1. Select the target MCU or CAN controller.
  2. Enter the peripheral clock frequency.
  3. Set the arbitration bit rate and target sample point.
  4. Set the CAN FD data bit rate and target data-phase sample point.
  5. Generate the configuration and verify the calculated error.
  6. Test the result on a short, correctly terminated bus before deployment.

Important Notes

  • Every node on the bus must use compatible arbitration and data-phase timing.
  • ISO and Non-ISO CAN FD modes are not mutually compatible; configure all nodes consistently.
  • A calculated timing configuration does not replace physical-layer validation. Check termination, cable length and signal quality under the intended load.
  • Use an oscilloscope or CAN analyzer when validating high data rates.

For PC-side timing configuration, use the CAN / CAN FD Bit-Rate Configuration Tool.
